NBC pilot for Grimm aired yesterday evening, and while it's not exactly what his unfortunate name suggests there are still some work to do. Show like CSI, in the case of heebie jeebies-… SVU if reliable could see the spooks! Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) learned it from the Brothers Grimm, could see demons and was destined to spend the rest of their days hunting vermin. So how did this all in one episode?
The series began with a quote from 1812 brothers themselves: "Wolf feels what tender young creature. What a nice plump mouthful … "It was not of Confucius, but it will do. Opening sequence that followed was very interesting. Unsuspecting runner-up in the Red Hoodie — took off on her morning jog in the forest and Eurythmics "sweet dreams." on the road she was distracted by figurine, accidentally put on the trail. She went to check it out and "Blammo!» Cue screaming, tearing flesh goodness.
Before they were called to the scene, Nick showed his partner Hank (Russell Hornsby) ring, he just bought his girlfriend. Hank snarked, "Oh, you're happy guy." Yes, dear Viewer, Grimm was going there with those clichés ... again and again. As he got into the car, Nick saw go Devil style squishy feminine face. Oddities on hold, he and Hank went to the scene, which shares the affair from a month ago. They found a Red iPod games "Sweet Dreams" (yet?), which helped them to identify it. From there, the case went cold.
Nick's proposal was scuttled several bombs fall with the arrival of his aunt Marie (Kate Burton): 1.) she had terminal cancer (boom!), 2.) There is a lot of "bad luck" in their family (kablooey!) and 3.) Nick must end his relationship (Crash!). Before she can fully explain, she felt a presence and whipped out a huge knife faster than you could say "Rupert Giles." it looked like victory demon, so Nick shot him the first man (or something). Before Marie handed Nick Amulet: "never lose this. Guard with your life. They will look for it. "? Nick's parents did not die as a result of the accident, they had been killed (POW!).
From her hospital Mangled Marie hit the next checkpoint a cliche to say Nick "is not a fairy tale." She touched his Grimm legacy and his responsibility to hunt demons, but Nick was shooed just as things got juicy. The next day, Nick learned Marie attacker was enforced a murderer, and Nick boss Captain Renard proposed he sought counseling. Instead, he sought answers in Marie caravan complete books with sketches of demons.
Big Bad Wolf Man soon struck again, with a little girl, "" the way to the House of his grandfather. (See what they're there? checkpoint!) Exploring the park nearby, Nick spotted Werewolf (Prison Break delightfully isolated conveniently Wolf Silas Weir Mitchell) and proceeded to kick the stuffing out of it. Claim a lot? Guy-Eddie Monroe-a clean record, so Nick has done any good COP will do and sat outside the House of Monroe as a stalker. Again the claim? Or Monroe can only welcome Nick in for beer and blather.
Monroe explained he was practicing Pilates, churchgoing, restoration of "blut bad" which technically translates to "bad blood", but here, the Grimms as "big bad wolf." Nick Monroe demanded assistance and they went on a cool ride in the VW bug, where Monroe literally sniffed from the perp. after they found him, Monroe made the tracks, and Nick name Hank for the reservation. Hank was skeptical to join this mission vigilante, but pleaded Nick, "I've cried wolf again!" (Checkpoint!)
Climax, Sam was a big let down. Tim Bagley (a.k.a. Larry will & Grace) was hardly used as deadly Bad blut (except a delightfully creepy scenes of pie crust) and 11 time revelation, Hank suspect humming "Sweet Dreams" seemed unduly. Worst of all, they ultimately their enemy, shooting him in the back. Hardly a tale of heroism.
That night, Marie tables, Nick proved again what cracks observer he not allowing nurse administer medications to his comatose aunt and instantaneous too late that he was demonface from the very beginning of the episode. Stressed the ghoulish yowl cover "Sweet Dreams" Marilyn Manson, Marie delegated Nick so convincing that he lost consciousness. Outside demonurse slid into a car with none other than Captain Renard, who explained that the Amulet is key, that "we must get back before he figures out how to use it."
