Despite the promised summer release window long gone (we expect snow in DC today), Google TV 2.0 is almost upon us. Official blog of Google TV provides sample screenshots and lists their objectives with restarting the software:
- · Keep it simple
- · Make it easy to find something worth watching
- · Do YouTube is better on TV
- · To attract more applications to the TV
Remains to be seen if they have successfully met this goal. Or, more importantly if they will find customers. But as early as next week, the first generation equipment Sony Google TV will begin to receive software updates from Logitech updates coming "shortly thereafter." Given Google's decision to go with Android branding, including the market for applications and trumpeting (previous generation) OS cells, they must be taken to rename the entire Tv from Google's Android initiative. Nevertheless, as we said last week when viewing Google TV 2.0, that ship sailed.
On the previous generation hardware, while you can get a deal on Logitech Revue ($ 99), set-top boxes comes without remote compact and generally will clutter up your living space. On the other hand the integrated 24 Sony Google TV discounted up to 300 $ can make a nice addition to the den or kitchen area. In fact I was considering picking up one replace our awful Vizio widgetized TV. As a rough around the edges, Google TV may be light-years, it provides better performance than Vizio connected Tv Yahoo platform. But what's next for Google TV equipment? Intel abandoned space in "smart TVS" and Google shows "new devices with new chipsets from several hardware partners will be opened in" coming months ". hope on the Roku and Apple TV pricing.
