A famous singer, musician and songwriter Bhupen Hazarika, 86, admitted to the intensive care unit hospital, seriously ill, but in a stable condition, doctors said on Wednesday. Hazarika Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani was admitted to hospital in Andheri, in June, after
complain of breathlessness, due to a chest infection. Later he enrolled in the ICU, said doctors.
"Hazarika fan support and is undergoing dialysis," said Dr. RAM Narain, Chief Operating Officer. Hazarika was on and off the fan. Over the past few days, his kidneys are not functioning properly and he has not been adequate urine, for which he was put on dialysis, Dr. Narain added.
Hazarika deteriorated health after he developed pneumonia on 23 October. He had to undergo a minor operation, attach the tube food in his system.
Legendary singer and composer, with his trademark deep baritone has sung in many Indian languages including Bengali, Hindi, Assamese and native language. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke award.
8 September Hazarika 85 celebrated its 50th birthday in the hospital.
