The following is the full text of the Declaration:
MR. DAVID CAMERON DECLARATIONS ON THE RIGHTS OF HOMOSEXUALS
New Patriotic Party (NPP) noted with satisfaction the broad condemnation that greeted unfortunate statements made by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Mr. David Cameron.
In all respects in the bad taste of a statement made by the Prime Minister.
Mr. Cameron and the United Kingdom reserves the right to make decisions of a strategic foreign assistance.
These solutions serve the interests of the foreign policy of the United Kingdom. They are not intended to serve the interests of Ghana.
So, what Mr. Cameron should not attempt to do so to compel Ghana compromising our cultural norms and laws to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the foreign policy of Great Britain.
Explanation of Downing Street, that statement by the Prime Minister "was in the context of British foreign policy for the promotion of human rights throughout the world" also does not help the matter.
Ghanaians are able to discuss the issue of homosexuality and taking the necessary measures to maintain our laws, for the preservation of our cultural values and the protection of human rights of all our citizens.
It doesn't matter which foreign Governments can decide for us.
New Patriotic Party urges the Government to stand firm against such unacceptable crime against our sovereignty.
