Report: Andy Rooney Was Hospitalized In Serious Condition


Andy Rooney, who delivered his latest essay on CBS TV newsmagazine "60 minutes" three weeks ago was hospitalized Tuesday after developing serious complications after surgery.


CBS said 92-year-old writer condition has stabilized and, at the request of his family offered no other information about his medical problems, or where he was hospitalized.

Three-time Emmy winner was a regular presence on most popular newsmagazine television. In 1978, after a few minutes with Andy Rooney "ended the program Sunday night, often with a look at the absurdities of life and language.

Rooney could talk about something that has been in the news or what in his closet. One of his Emmy Awards was an essay that was the real Mrs. Smith behind Mrs. Smith's pies.

2 October, he made his 097th and final 1, essay, stating that it was the moment when he dreaded.

"I wish I could do this forever."I cannot, however, he said.

True to his often cantankerous nature Rooney stated that he hated, recognized on the street. So if you see it in the restaurant, he said as he signed off, "Please, just let me eat my lunch."


He had a long career as a writer, and how he saw himself. He worked for the military newspaper stars and stripes and wrote four books about the second world war. He wrote for entertainment personalities Arthur Godfrey and Harry Moore and long-standing partnerships with glitch newsman Harry reasoning.

With "60 minutes" looking for something new at the end of her show, Rooney first essay appeared on July 2, 1978: complaints about people who are for how many people died in auto accidents in weekend getaway.
