MMRCA: Why India Opted For Europe And Us


Clearing the air over why India [photo] has a preference for Europe to the United States as the acquisition of medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA), senior government sources said on Wednesday it was to get the best weapons for the Indian armed forces.

Sources said that "there was no political or strategic choice, but simply a matter of getting the best weapons for our defence forces".

"After all, detailed technical assessment of the various planes was done to assess which were fighter aircraft, our requirements and which not. It was a fully transparent process where the buyer and seller know exactly where they stand ".
